No Bake Oreo Cheesecake

Cheesecake is my all-time favorite dessert. I've made them in all styles with baked and no baked versions in a number of flavors, but this one, always ends up back on the menu as a family favorite. It's super easy to throw together, is loved by everyone, and well, is practically foolproof. So, when I want to make something yummy and easy, I usually reach for these ingredients. It never fails to be a hit and is usually devoured fast. Trust me, leftovers have never been an issue when I've made this pie.

If you want traditional, you can make this New York style cheesecake recipe or go a different direction with Fanny's recipe for roasted blueberry cheesecake with candied Meyer lemon. Or, another layered option is this icebox Oreo lasagna idea that is always popular and great for larger gatherings where you need more servings.

Can I Make My Own Crust?

You can definitely make your own Oreo crust if you prefer. I like the convenience of ready-made, then buying the crust is ideal. If you choose to make your own, this is a great Oreo cookie crust recipe that you can follow. It really only takes cookies and butter, but following a tutorial makes it easier.

You can also use different cookies if you want. A graham cracker crust is a great substitute, but I've also made this with peanut butter cookies, sugar cookies, and even chocolate chip cookie dough baked into a crust form. All turn out great and compliment the flavor of this Oreo cheesecake wonderfully.

Can I Freeze This Ahead of Time?

You can definitely freeze this ahead of time! I love making batches of these for holidays, then wrapping them and freezing to pull out the night before I serve them. Admittedly, I have also served these frozen and everyone loved it!

When making these ahead of time, I like to wrap them in plastic wrap first, then slide the entire pie into a gallon Ziploc bag and freeze. This protects them from freezer burn and makes it super easy to pull out and thaw when needed.

Do I Have to Let This Sit for 3 Hours?

For the best texture, letting this refrigerate to set is best. I have eaten this immediately after making it, and have eaten it after refrigerating. Both taste great, but to slice this nicely and serve with the best flavor and texture, you really do need that extra refrigeration.

How do I Stiffen a No-Bake Cheesecake?

If your cheesecake feels too loose after adding the whipped topping, wait to see if it will set up when refrigerated. If it still seems too loose, you can mix in a small amount of powdered sugar, additional softened cream cheese, or my preference, freeze it for an hour before slicing to serve.

One of the biggest issues with these not setting up is using whipped cream instead of whipped topping. While whipped topping may not be as tasty or natural as whipped cream, it does provide the stability that will set better rather than collapsing and being a bit more liquid than whipped cream. If all else fails, put it into a bowl to serve and call it a trifle!

More Chocolate Recipes

Chocolate is definitely the ultimate in dessert flavors. Whether you want a snack bite, a cookie, cake, or pie, you have options when it comes to chocolate. I love it, and well, everyone loves it! Below are ideas that you are sure to love adding to your dessert menu!

Chef's Tip

Something I have done to add just a little bit extra richness to this recipe, as if it really needs more, is to add chunks of cookies and cream fudge into the batter. I like making or buying Oreo fudge then cutting into little ½" chunks and folding into the mixture just before refrigeration.

Notes

This recipe works best using whipped topping versus whipped cream. The stabilized whipped topping gives a better overall result and holds up when frozen and thawed.
